Lord of the Flies - William Golding This book is about fifteen to twenty boys that get stranded on an island and have many conflicts between each other that risks peoples� lives. Fifteen to twenty boys around the ages of 7-14 get stranded on an island. They still try to survive by building shelters, hunting, and keeping a signal fire going. The two leaders eventually get so mad at each other that they split apart the boys into two separate �tribes.� One thing leads to another and the smaller, more civilized tribe is torn apart. The only person left, Ralph, is literally running for his life when he sees a naval officer that rescues them from their misery. The setting takes place on a medium sized island in the Pacific Ocean. The island is part of a coral reef. There is a dense jungle inland with a steep mountain, called Castle Rock. The boys bathe in the lagoon. Pigs run wildly around the island and fruit grows on colorful trees. Over a period of several weeks that the boys are on the island, the temperature is around 80-90 degrees.
