Junior English Research paper I�ve lived in New Bedford all of my life, and let me start off by saying that I have seen a lot more negative things in this city than I have seen positive. New Bedford was once one of the richest cities in Massachusetts and also one of the Nations largest whaling and shipping centers. We were known for such positive things but now drugs and violence has taken control of the city. New Bedford is now known for its drugs, unsolved murders, teen pregnancy, and so many more negative things. People now call New Bedford �secret city� because there are 17 unsolved murders in this city and no one will come forward with any information about any of them. Because the city has gotten so bad, witnesses are afraid to come forward and testify because their scared that they�ll be next. For instance on July 4, 2005 Dana Haywood, whom was the founder of the Montes Park basketball league, (founded to keep kids off the street and out of trouble) was gunned down in front of 30 to 40 people and not one person came for......
