To Corporal Punish or Not to Corporal Punish Today many different people such as doctors, scientists, and even parents, are wondering if corporal punishment, spanking in this instance, leads to a violent society. So much involvement in finding out the answer is due to the raising crime rate in major countries today. The country focus on the most in this argument is the United States. Though the crime rate is high, it is not the worst. Still doctors believe the studies preformed in the United States contribute to the argument at hand. Straus states, �The Untied States is the most violent of the advanced industrial societies�(p 837). Even if it is a small percentage of violence and crime are affected by these studies many people hope that in a long-term stance it will change the world for the better.
