Biography
Georg Friedrich Bernhard Riemann (1826-1866) was a German Mathematician who made important contributions to analysis and differential geometry, some of them even paving the way for the later development of general relativity. Some of the works he published later became major parts of Riemann geometry, algebraic geometry and the complex manifold theory. Riemann was the most influential mathematician of the mid nineteenth century.
Born and raised in the kingdom of Hannover in 1826 (which is now known as Germany) Georg was the son of Friedrich Bernhard Riemann a poor Lutheran minister. Friedrich Riemann fought in the Napoleonic Wars. Georg's mother died before her children grew up. Bernhard was the second of six children. When Georg was little boy he was very shy and suffered from a lot of nervous breakdowns.
At a very young age, Georg showed his remarkable skills (like his fantastic calculation abilities) but he was handicapped by timidity and had a fear of public speaking. Throughout high school he studied the bible a lot. But most of the times his mind drifted awa......
