�Mommy, what�s the matter? Where did daddy go?� My shaky voice asked as I stared into my mother�s red-rimmed, tear strained eyes. �He went to Grammy�s house for a little while, don�t worry everything�s okay.� As much as I wanted to believe her I couldn�t. I was young but I was still aware of what seemed to be going on in my house. As I lay in my bed, cozy and warm, I could hear my parents arguing, an occasional scream coming from my mother or a door slamming, shaking the entire house while they thought I was fast asleep. It was quite a period of time until I was able to fall asleep, until the house finally silenced and everything was �perfect� again. My parents tried to pretend everything was fine, when I really wanted to scream, �What is wrong with you? Stop acting like everything is okay. It�s NOT!� But I couldn�t because I�ve never been the kind of person to express my feelings, for fear of how others will take it.
