English 123 Informative and Surprising Essay People often say some countries in the world are poor or deprived from the lack of help from other countries and lack of there own natural resources, when in fact, most have and have always had the means to help themselves. One point made is that countries with an abundance of natural resources generally have a higher standard of living. Yes the richest country, the United States, does have abundance. However look at England and Japan and Hong Kong. These countries seriously lack natural resources but because of there free market economies, have much of the wealth of the world. On the other hand, countries in South America and Africa are some of the poorest. These countries are sitting on gold mines of resources and sometimes quite literally gold. You may believe that natural resources aren�t enough because the people of these countries have no means to extract them or grow them or do what ever it is they must due to yield a profit.
