Who would have thought that dirt and water could affect history? They are in fact, important aspects to a nation’s growth and development. Early humans were at the mercy of geography and nature, with only a few primitive tools to help them. Even in what is called, the “modern society” we are still at its mercy. Two of geography’s most basic components are water and soil. These two basic elements have affected human history development ever since there was a history and even before that. Over time though, humans have learned to shape geography, to attack back, to take control of their lives, and their history. Animals might have other ways to do this, fur against the cold, claws to dig into the ground to make homes, specialized senses to find their way around, and to find food. Humans on the other hand, did not have any of these, we only had our superior brainpower, and that is probably the most powerful weapon.
