Dr. Margaret Abigail Walker Alexander Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Margaret Walker (1915-1998) was an African American woman who was a poet and novelist. Not only was she a writer, she felt her role never stopped there. Miss Walker (was published under her maiden name) describes herself as writer, teacher and, lecturer. Miss Walker believed that she was great in her career because of her sex (most important) and race. Born in Birmingham, Alabama Miss Walker started writing. When she was a young teen, she began to write. Her mother and father believed that at this time her writing was just a phase in puberty. But later when she turned 18 and in her junior year of college, her family saw that she was serious about writing. Her father realized she was a writer when she had showed him the notebook he’d given her when she first began to write. Her father saw that she had filled the 365 pages of that notebook, with poetry. But, the start of her writing was due to her mother and father (a Methodist Minister), teaching philosophy and poetry to her as a child. Miss Walker felt that writing was a major way of expressing herself. Her major goal......
