Hemohilia Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Hemophilia is a genetic disorder that is known for the inability to clot blood. Victims of hemophilia are called “free bleeders.” There are two types of Hemophilia, Hemophilia A (the classical disease) and Hemophilia B (the Christmas disease). Queen Victoria was considered the first person in recorded history to undertake Hemophilia. She had Hemophilia A, which was passed to all of her sons. Her daughters were not victims of this disease, but they were considered carriers. Which meant if they had a son, and he was to scratch himself (or something to that nature), it would be difficult for him to stop the excessive amount of blood flow. Unfortunately for this royal family, there were more males than females reproduced. This caused the disease to spread throughout Russia, Germany, and Spain. Hemophilia is an X-linked recessive trait. This means men cannot pass this disease to their sons because they contribute only the Y chromosome from their father. However, they do pass their X chromosome to each of their daughters, making each of them become an instant carrier. Mild, moderate, ......
