In the year 1799, many discoveries were made in the scientific world, but none were greater than that of the Rosetta Stone. People all over the world still do not know of the wonders of the Rosetta Stone. What is the Rosetta Stone, what is on it, and who discovered it and who deciphered it? These are just some of the many questions people have surrounding the mysteriousness of the stone. The Rosetta Stone is a decree about the taxes and some statues in Egypt when the Hellenistic ruler Ptolemy V was in power. A French army engineer named Pierre- Francois Bouchard discovered the stone, and Jean-Francois Champollion deciphered it. The Rosetta stone was one of the greatest discoveries in the era it was discovered.
The Rosetta Stone is just one of the decrees from a series of decrees called the Ptolemaic Decrees, given by the Ptolemaic dynasty. This dynasty ruled Egypt from 305 BC to 30 BC.
