The Great depression was one of the worst economic times for the United States. There are many reasons to which this Great Depression was caused. First, a depression is when a place goes through a phase where the money is not worth anything and many people are poor and need loans to live life. It was a very depressing times period, hence the name the depression. There are many causes to the Great Depression but the main reasons are as follows. First, there was an unequal distribution of income. This means that there was too much money in the hands of too few. During this time, 5 percent of Americans shared about 33 percent of the wealth in the United States. A second cause of the depression would be overproduction on farms and in businesses. The demand for certain goods and things was very high but no one had money to buy anything. The businesses kept producing and the prices kept growing as the inventory skyrocketed. A third cause of the depression would be the raising of the tariff in the United States when trading with other countries. A tariff is a tax on imports, so if other cou......
