Solar Energy verses Fossil Fuel Energy We all depend on and use electricity in our daily lives without thinking about it. If we stop and think about the energy we rely on, we would encounter some shocking realities about how energy production affects our health, the environment and our wallets. The misconception of the fact that solar power can supply twenty percent of the energy needs now satisfied by fossil and nuclear power is simply a futuristic dream. Currently solar energy production costs nearly four dollars a watt, where as fossil fuel generation is forty cents a watt (CNN). Unfortunately after all the technological advancements we have made over the last century, one thing that has not changed is our dependence on fossil fuel generated electricity.
