Hamlet Essay Honour is not only something that simply comes along with a well-known name but is also something that is gained while maintaining respect for those who, in your eyes, deserve it. In William Shakespeare�s play, Hamlet, the character Laertes represents both dignity and honour throughout his role as a son and a brother. In different versions of the play, these values are displayed in many, sometimes varying ways. Laertes� most important relationships are those with his father, Polonius, and sister, Ophelia. However, in his pursuit to honour his family, Laertes also forms a partnership with King Claudius. The first relationship we see Laertes� in is with his father. This is also the biggest part of Laertes� role in the play to represent honour and dignity as he avenges the death of his father.
