ABSTRACT
The City of Saint Martin Fire Department, which is located near San Francisco, is responsible for providing fire and emergency medical services to over 85,000 people with-in its 24 square miles. The city’s rapidly growing population and continuing extensive development requires the department to improve its ability to respond to emergency incidents quickly and efficiently. The department’s annual total responses have increased from 4,715 in 2000 to over 6,000 in 2006. It is imperative that the fire department be proactive in the area of communications and information technology to be able to respond quickly and efficiently to any emergency within the city and its neighboring communities.
The objective of this proposal is to upgrade the communications systems of the fire department apparatus, which will enable it to reduce response times throughout the city and provide valuable building site information.
