This book is about the life of Minnie Vautrin. Although she was not Chinese or directly involved in the Massacre of Nanking she made it her business to get involved to help save the lives of many Chinese women attending Gingling University. Minnie Vautrin was born in 1886 in a small town called Secor, Illinois. It was here that she learned about religion and education. She graduated from High School and went onto graduate from college. It was in high school where her interest and love for the Chinese people grew. After her college years Minnie took many trips over to China, where she fell in love.
She decided that the Chinese women were in need of more rights and this all would start with the education process. Her efforts to get better teachers at Gingling were year round. She pleaded with the missionary and asked churches and institution in the United States to help give money to the University, so they can afford to send better teachers with more experience in the Chinese language and culture to further t......
