Reasons for Liking �The Necklace� I enjoyed reading Guy de Maupassant�s �The Necklace� because it was a very fascinating story. I believe that I liked it so much because I share some of Mathilde�s characteristics. I don�t normally like to read, but this story was attention-grabbing and appealing from the very beginning. I enjoyed reading the story because I could relate to Mathilde, it had an interesting ending, and the story taught valuable lessons. I felt that I could relate to Mathilde. She was a materialistic woman who definitely had her priorities out of order. She also suffered from five of the seven deadly sins which were: avarice, sloth, envy, anger, and pride. I�ve realized that I too suffer from a few of these sins and reading this story made me look at myself in a new perspective. I can relate to Mathilde because I suffer from avarice, envy, and anger. Avarice is defined as the passion for riches. It also means greed. I, like Mathilde, am very greedy. I�m never satisfied; I always want more.
