Globalization The Information Revolution, and the Information Age, is being defined by an on-going process of economic, social and political globalization. While the term globalization has become quite widespread, even in the popular media, there are confused and often conflicting definitions and conceptions of the phenomenon. In order for this concept to maintain any analytical usefulness, it must be unpacked, carefully defined and examined for its impact on society, the economy, and the world system. The purpose of this paper is to discuss what the effects of globalization has on society and the education system of the US. While globalization and technological changes are taken for granted in today's business and industrial arena, education seems to be much more inwardly-focused. The United States public educational system is not only supplying unprepared entrants for college and for the technical work place, but even worse, it is misleading them into believing they are qualified to compete successfully in a modern and demanding technologically global society (Meriam, 1991). ......
