Violence against children is one of the most appalling problems in the world.. The most shocking thing about this issue is that most of the children who are subjected to violence are abused by those that have the responsibility to look after and care for them. Children in schools, in orphanages, on the street, in refugee camps and war zones, in detention, and in fields and factories are those who suffer the most. In my speech I will focus mainly on those millions of children all around the world that are kept in orphanages and other non-penal institutions. Many of these children are kept in horrible places where they receive inhumane care. Those people responsible for them often physically and sexually abuse them and subject them to other cruel and degrading treatment. Even in institutions that are clean and provide adequate food, people who work there often ignore and neglect them, leaving them to lie alone in small beds with no stimulation, play, or adult attention.
