“This is the second most important commandment is like it: Love your neighbour as you love yourself. ” Many great philosophers like Aristotle, Aquinas, Plato have left their mark on the topic of Ethics. The three most important philosophers Immanuel Kant, Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mills, revolutionised the idea of Deontological and Utilitarian Ethics. Immanuel Kant’s Deontological Ethics comes from the Greek word ‘Deon’ meaning duty. He proposed the idea that this form of ethical belief was based solely around duty and rights. Combining the rationalism (reason) with empiricism (the senses). On the other hand Jeremy Bentham founded the Utilitarian Ethics. The word Utilitarian comes from the Latin word ‘utilis’ meaning useful. His form of Ethics is described as the theory of usefulness.
