Discuss the causes (both long-term and short-term) for, and the events of, the November 1917 Russian Revolution. Assess the role of leadership in this struggle. According to Oxford Dictionary a revolution is a �radical and pervasive change in society and the social structure, especially one made suddenly and often accompanied by violence.� For a sudden change such as this there has to be reason and a build up to it, a mix of short term and long term causes and leaders that will make incisive decisions and lead their group to achieve their ultimate goal. Russia was well behind the rest of Europe in a political sense. It still had a government in place of an aristocratic nature. Unlike the monarchy in Briton, Russia�s Tsar Nicholas the second was not just a figurehead of the state but an unchallenged dictator of the state. As the rest of Europe advanced with more democratic forms of government, the Tsar arrogantly persisted with his primitive form.
