Pollution Pollution is an unwelcome concentration of substances that are beyond the environments capacity to handle. These substances are detrimental to people and all other living things. In this essay I will try to persuade the reader to become more aware of the environment and issues and to reduce his or her carbon footprints. In an undisturbed ecosystem all substances are processed through a network of biological cycles, such as the carbon cycle. During theses complex cycles substances are broken down and re-used by other organisms e.g. plants. But as we pollute the world we break these vital cycles, which disrupts how that ecosystem works. Some pollutants are nitrogen, phosphorus, and copper, but are also necessary in small amounts for healthy plants but if it becomes too concentrated it becomes a pollutant. Synthetic compounds like DDT, used by farmers and pesticide affect the environment. Plastics are also a main problem, they are non-reusable and do not break down like biodegradable substances, and so pollute the world......
