The definition of lobbying is �the process of trying to influence policymakers in favour of a specific cause1�. The process takes its name from the �lobbies� or hallways of Parliament where MPs and Lords gather before and after debates in the Houses of Commons and Lords. Traditionally, people wishing to influence the opinions of MPs or Lords have frequented the �lobbies� seeking to persuade them to agree with a particular viewpoint. In this essay I will discuss lobbying and whether or not it is important in how government works properly and democratically, I will sum up with a conclusion and my own opinion on the matter. Lobbying is commonplace all over the world, especially in democratically governed countries (e.g. UK, USA, etc). It has mainly been done by either individuals who feel extremely strong about something, or pressure groups.
