Throughout the collection of short stories Minimum of Two, the author, Tim Winton mostly represents women as strong and enduring and that males are inadequate but there are circumstances where the opposite is true. This is true when we compare strong women like Rachel and Queenie. Whereas there is the weak female character of Fat Maz. Then in the men, there are the inadequate ones; Jerra Nilsam and Neil Madigan. And then there are traces of strength and endurance in Jerra in his journey into young parenthood. Firstly and most importantly we need to address the women who are personified as being strong and enduring. These characters are Rachel, Queenie Cookson and The Girl (the water was dark and went forever down). Firstly we look at Rachel; she appears in seven of the books stories. She is depicted as being strong throughout the whole book.
