In Anna Quindlen’s Men at Work she discusses her views on the differences of the “five o’clock dads” in the 1950s and the way fathers are today. In her essay she sympathizes with them that feel that they have to work all the time to have a comfortable life. I agreed with her in her essay, and I too feel sorry for the fathers that want to spend time with their children but cannot. I find it ironic that when fathers had time to spend with there children, they never really wanted to and now that there time is limited all they want is some time to spend with there children. “…and it is that the quality of fathering is better than it was when the dads left work at five o’ clock and came home to café curtains and tuna casserole.”
