BATHING A DOG Anyone can give a dog a bath if he or she gathers the appropriate supplies, observes the necessary precautions and follows the steps in order. Preparedness, patience and practice will take the challenge out of dog bathing. Preparation is a vital component in beginning any task. In order to be prepared to give a dog a bath, the necessary supplies need to be gathered. Typical supplies include but are not limited to shampoo, conditioner, brush, comb, towels, rubber bath mat, cotton balls, hair dryer, water and a plastic pitcher. Grooming supplies should be specific to the dog�s needs. For example, dogs with dry skin or dogs that require frequent bathing should be bathed with moisturizing shampoo and moisturizing conditioner. Dogs that are prone to flea and tick infestations are typically bathed with a shampoo that kills and repels the problem insects. Brushes and combs should be specific to the dog�s hair type.
