A Child�s Memory �� This is probably not the most interesting event or memory of my childhood, but it is definitely the clearest. I had not yet reached the age of 5, yet I was still going to compete against 5 to 6 year old children. I was used to being the youngest: that was the case at my school, swimming lessons and between my cousins. It made no difference to me how old they were, I was going to win this race! This was my first real swimming race with a proper audience, cup and medals I had to make sure everything went as I had dreamt the night before. It was a hot June afternoon, and I was anxious to get in the water because I was boiling and all the heat was making me sweaty and sticky, I could feel my hair burn on my head the stones underneath me were scorching my legs and feet. My best friend and I were talking about our race, and how excited we were to soon be on holiday: we were both going to spend most of our time in Milan, at the pool! He was a year older than me too, but unlike the others he did not under estimate me, he knew very well I was a good swimmer and ......
