Letter to Mr. Arthur Radley from To Kill a Mockingbird Dear Mr. Arthur “Boo” Radley, I was writing to you in order to explain to you my feelings about the actions you took in To Kill a Mockingbird. I understand that it was not easy growing up in the time that you did, having to deal with segregation and prejudice. Although we have made some great strides in overcoming many of the prejudices between blacks and whites, we still have a ways to go. Not only with that particular prejudice, but with other kinds as well. In the story it became apparent to me that you to were a victim of some one else’s preconceived ideas about you and your family. These prejudices aimed at you were part of your town’s history. Jem and Scout grew up hearing about how strange your family was. Miss Stephanie Crawford and Miss Maudie Atkinson both told stories about you and yours. Like the time Miss Stephanie swore she saw you looking in her window late one night. Miss Maudie usually stood in defense of what others would say and I have to agree with a lot of what she felt toward you and your family. When ......
