Chopin: Nocturne in C minor, Op. 48, No. 1 Although this is not necessarily my favorite piece by Chopin, I do enjoy it very much. I�m an avid fan of piano music and Chopin is one of my favorite artists. His music seems to stand apart from other music of the genre. Nocturne in C minor is a very elegant piece and it�s very easy to listen to. The piece is in ternary form (A-B-A plus a coda) and of course it�s a solo piano. The reason the piano is one of my favorite instruments is because it can easily stand alone with no accompaniment. As Chopin displays, piano pieces can be very expressive and emotional without any accompaniment. In the first section the song opens with a very relaxing yet almost proud sounding melody. It almost reminds me of perhaps a person contemplating something. He takes liberties with the tempo of the notes played by his right hand. It is the tempo rubato which was very characteristic of his style and is used throughout the whole piece. I love the way it sounds. He hesitates at some points, but hurries at others which makes the piece much more......
