Hamlet is excessively concerned with death. Many things both physical and mental have died and therefore have affected him. His father has died and was possibly murdered. His trust and belief in his mother, and in Ophelia, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern are dead. His hopes to be king, to be married to Ophelia, and to be supported by his mother are also dead. He becomes absorbed with death, speaks to his fathers ghost, thinks of suicide, discuses the ravages of death with the gravedigger, and comments on the base uses of death to the skull of Yorick. He also inflicts death upon Polonius by dragging Polonius’ body about the palace. Fascinated by death, he is tampered in movement to establish a viable situation for himself in a living world. Hamlet had a tragic flaw in which death overwhelmed him. This fascination of death led to the murders of several other people, which included his mother, and the king of Denmark.
