Harley Davidson not only survived such a transition, but thrived on it. When faced with bankruptcy due to poor product quality and fierce competition, Harley Davidson took an innovative approach to create a labor-management partnership which involved employees and the union. Their goals were to improve the health of the company, preserve jobs, enhance earning and improve the quality of the work environment (Schuster & Weidman 2006). Several other companies tried to follow Harley�s example, but few have enjoyed the same financial success. Some researchers attribute this difference to the values held by Harley Davidson.
