Discrimination is a particular group that gets treated less favorably than others because of their race, color, nationality, or ethnic or national origin. In workplace discrimination what you do not know can hurt you, especially if an aggrieved employee files a discrimination claim against your employer. In a case where an employer violate workplace discrimination laws, whether deliberately or by accident they face stiff legal and financial penalties, along with bad publicity, low employee morale and other consequences. The Federal law prohibits a number of discrimination in work-related areas, as well as recruiting, hiring, job evaluations, promotion policies, compensation and disciplinary action.
