By: Chong Fu Ng Text Two Report: Ned Kelly- The movie (2003) ‘A film about the legendary outlaw whose story outgrew his life. You can kill a man but not a legend. When the law tried to silence him a legend was born. The British Empire branded them as outlaws. The oppressed called them heroes.’ About the text Ned Kelly (2003) is directed by Gregor Jordan. This movie retells the story of the Australian ‘legend’ Ned Kelly, from the time he was a child to the time he died. The film shows a lack of justice towards the Kelly family, which makes Ned Kelly rebel and go against the local officers. From stealing cattle to shooting officers Ned Kelly commits crimes, not because he wants to, but because he is forced to. In the end the Kelly gang is forced into the last stand, where a shoot down occurred in the Glenrowan Inn. Here hostages were taken and some were shot, not by the Kelly gang but by the police.
