Fahrenheit 451 - Dystopian Paper Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Fahrenheit 451 takes place in an unspecified future time in an anti-intellectual America that has completely abandoned self-control and bans the possession of books. Guy Montag is a “fireman” whose profession is book burning. His battalion of book burners set ablaze houses that possess banned books. Montag, although working for the fire department, finds himself stealing one book from each location where books are being burned and collaborates a collection of books. After his captain, Beatty, finds out about his doings he reveals to Montag that he has also read a few books in his day. Beatty then allows Montag to read one book but then promise to bring the others back to the fire house for burning. Montag then goes to Faber, an old college English professor, and ask for his help on choosing what book to read and hopefully memorize. Montag ends up choosing the bible and burns Captain Beatty to death and runs away to the woods where he encounters a group of “books”.
