Street Dreams by K’Wan Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
I read a book called Street Dreams by K’Wan and it was published in September of 2004. I think K’Wan entitled this book Street Dreams because in this book it describes many problems with the streets and how people have dreams and goals to get off the streets, but it is so hard to leave, because that is all they know. Many people are on the streets just to make odds and ends, because they don’t have the education or the knowledge to get a real job. They aren’t on the streets trying to hurt anyone they are just trying to get by and they end up on the top of the food chain in the biggest gang on the streets of Harlem.
This story takes place in the projects of Harlem during the 60’s or 70’s. The main part of this story takes place in the projects. All around you is hustling and crack heads. There is no good part of the ghetto. Most people have no choice but to stay in the ghetto because that is all they know.
