Why The Kite Runner is a good novel The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini gathered a lot of media attention because of the fact that it was the first Afghan novel to be written in English. The story is about two boys growing up in pre- Soviet Afghanistan and Taliban Afghanistan. The main character, Amir, is the son of a wealthy Afghanistan business man, and his playmate, Hassan is the son of his father��s servant. Despite the fact that they are from different social classes, they are best friends and spend a lot of time together. However, Amir feels jealous of Hassan because Amir think his Baba is generous and kind to Hassan more than him. Later, Amir and Hassan��s friendship is destroyed as a result of a tragic event, Hassan was raped by Assef. The novel deals with a controversial problem, sexual child abuse. Because of the event, Amir feels guilty for the rest of his life. Eventually, the guilt leads Amir to return to Afghanistan to rescue Hassan��s son and takes him back to the United States.
