By doing this his work can appear irrelevant and irrelevant depending on its reception. A governmental leader, an anti-war protestor and an educated Australian youth would have differing receptions of his work and whether it is irrelevant and irreverent. McGough�s poems Motorway and Noah�s Arc are very critical of the government, and he does this by using extended metaphors and symbolism. Icarus Allsorts and Mother the Wardrobe is Full of Infantrymen are very anti-war supportive poems which use metaphor and inversion to show war realities which an anti-war protestor would find relevant and somewhat irreverent but for a purpose.
