The novel “Cold Mountain” by Charles Frazier as a whole, is a historically based fictional story which encompasses factual relevance to the time period and setting. With each chapter adding meaning to the central themes and motifs throughout the story, “the ground beneath her hands” is no exception, contributing historical merit and events of plot significance.
