In the essay presented by Jonathan Kozol, “Still Separate, Still Unequal: America’s Educational Apartheid,” Kozol argues that racial segregation has not improved over the years like many people think is has. He is under the impression that the Americans who are not living in today’s major cities have no idea that segregation has not lessened. He believes that schools that were segregated thirty years ago are still just as segregated today. He does not think that there was a change from then and now. He proves his argument through interviews with students, teachers, and administrators, statistics, and his own personal experiences as a teacher. Most of his statistics show that majority of the public school population is Black or Hispanic and a small percentage of white students attend public schools. In his opinion, these statistics cannot even convey how segregated children in the poorest neighborhoods of these cities have become.
