The MTX 9500, or the JL W7? Which is a better subwoofer for the money? Many people believe that JL is such an amazing company, because of the name. I can agree, but I think there is a better company out there than that. MTX in my mind is the best company in the world for mobile audio. Don�t take my word for it just yet, let me prove it to you. MTX has been building and designing subwoofers for more than 30 years. No company that is still in business can say that. Just for starters I will compare the 10� MTX 9500 series subwoofer to the 10� JL W7 series subwoofer. The reason I pick JL, is because JL is MTX�s biggest competitor. No other companies really even come close to these two super companies. MTX�s 9500 has an xmax of one linear inch. JL�s W7 has an xmax of .9 inches. An xmax is how for the subwoofers� cone comes above the basket when in full excursion. The 9500 can handle 750 watts rms, and 2000 watts peak. The W7 can only handle 500 watts rms, and 1000 watts peak. I look at that comparison as the MTX is more expensive to power, but it is built better so it can ......
