Relating to the public, however essential to an organization, does not fully describe the functions of public relations. Prior to the reading of this week�s course material, this writer thought of public relations as only a small part of marketing; having to do with writing press releases, throwing parties to launch new products, and putting a positive spin on bad publicity.
