Adrienne Rich is a female poet who has been inspired by several other female poets, like herself, to share her views of the female disposition in society. She feels that the female�s race has been suppressed by the male population and as a result have not been able to truly express herself and her ideas in the degree of freedom she so wishes. As she gives a speech to fellow feminists, rich is still pressured by an unseen audience of men, who cast a criticizing glance at the militant tone in Rich�s voice. She speaks of the stereotypical role of the modern woman but she contradicts these views with her own image of a more modern female. Rich feels the modern female should carry similar responsibilities to that of the male community. Instead of spending their days in the kitchen, cooking, and attending to the younger population, women should engage in the industrial world. Women should apply themselves outside of the house; take their skills out of the kitchen and into a business. They should attend school and climb the corporate ladder, making their way high into the business hierar......
