Cinema Paradiso Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
The film “Cinema Paradiso” follows the life of Salvatore Di Vita though a series of his own flashbacks. The film tells the story of a young boy wanting to work in the local cinema during the 1950’s.Salvatore grew up with an absent farther who left for war and never returned so he replaces his farther with the communities projectionist, Alfredo. As the film unfolds Salvatore goes though all stages of life and experiences friendship, loneliness, love and loss. The film comes to an end when he returns to his hometown in Sicily which he had sworn never to return to upon the influence of Alfredo. When he looks around and realises that everything has changed, people are no longer as he remembered them and his hometown has changed from a simple society to a bustling city.
Within the small community the cinema is regarded as a necessity for entertainment and escape. The community finds the cinema relaxing and enjoyable it helps the town’s people to forget the problems that face them such as war, loss and poor income. People in the town are fascinated and obsessed with the American culture ......
