To be an effective teacher, one must clearly and completely understand the material he/she is required to teach. This involves research and prior learning to have complete understanding of a topic. The major science lessons begin in the later elementary years, which makes this assignment even more important. In the fourth and fifth grade years, students are begin introduced to the basic beginning topics of the sciences. A clear understanding of the course from the teacher’s end will result in a better understanding for the students. In this integrated physics course we were required to choose one section topic from the book and do further research on that topic. The topic I chose to do extra research on was the structure of an atom.
The atom is the smallest unit of matter that still characterizes a chemical element and retains its identity during chemical reactions.
