Their territory covered is now the states of Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama (Martin, 1996). Cherokee are people who share the same blood, the same ancestral customs, and the same ancestral language. The Cherokee Native American Indians have unique beliefs, religious practices, rituals and medical history that are unique to their cultural group. The Cherokee believe in the use of a medicine man. Ancient manuscripts which contain formulas are used by medicine men. This knowledge is passed on from generation to generation. These formulas have been written in Cherokee language. The written formulas must be spoken or sung in the Cherokee language in order for them to work. These manuscripts are used as reference text just as today medical practitioners r......
