A Doll�s House. A Doll�s House by Henrik Ibsen is a powerful play about the struggle of a woman for independence in the 19th century where society was male dominated. Nora is the perfect wife, or as she refers to herself a �Doll�. She has had a life of indulgence from her husband and father with no independence expected to be a perfect wife and mother. The message that is often received through Ibsen�s play is the life women, in particular Nora had to endure. Women were living in a male dominated society with little or no equality. It follows the formula of well-made play up until the final act, when it breaks convention by ending with a discussion, not an unraveling. It is often called the first feminist play. This play is still very relevant in today�s society as we still have women who fight for power and face prejudice and sexism. There are various types of drama that have been formed through the years.
