It is important before proceeding to recognize the sole purpose, intent, & goal of any corporate entity is generating profit. Despite claims to the contrary, the assertions of bettering the lives of their workers, the community, & their customers; it is profit which is the underlying motivation for all corporate decisions & policies. There are only two ways to increase revenue, increase market share, or alternatively cut costs. The problem is perception. It one was to have asked a coalminer at the turn of the century what the company he worked for owed him, he would be dumbfounded. He worked, bought what he needed at a company owned store, and worked some more. There was no perception the company �owed� the miner anything else but the opportunity to continue working. In fact if the miner failed to provide adequately for his family or was injured while working, it was seen as solely a failing on his part. Move ahead a century & most workers would be aghast at the above assertion. What about Minimum compensation for work done, guarantees of adequate training, equipment, & time......
