Describe SIM�s Activity � This Sim started out telling us the history of psychoactive drugs. It showed us that these drugs have been used for thousands of years but all for the same purposes. They showed two photos of Indian�s smoking drugs through pipes, and also Egyptians brewing alcohol. This slide also showed us that society gives us a great affluence in using drugs, and also that the easy availability is another cause to addiction. The next slide showed us how the drugs are administered. They can be ingested (through swallowing), inhaled (breathed in through airways), absorption (through mouth or nose membranes), or injection (with hypodermic needle). This slide told us that psychoactive drugs alter nervous system functioning. The liver produces enzymes that metabolize the drugs, and get them out of your system. This also showed us a graph of the drug intensity over time. The drugs slowly decrease in intensity over a given amount of time. The next slide showed us three different types of these drugs.
