Gap Analysis: Global Communications Global Communications (GCOM) has suffered significant economic losses in recent years as it has failed to grow with and adapt to a changing marketplace that is filled with new competitors offering cutting edge technologies and services to consumers. GCOM�s delayed response to globalization and growth has resulted in a 50% loss in stock value which has in turn dissatisfied company shareholders. GCOM also has internal communications issues between upper management-union-employees which has impacted confidence and morale. Situation Analysis Issue and Opportunity Identification Global Communications has renegotiated contracts with it employees, forcing them to take a 20% cut in education and benefits. However, the company placed Maria, the union liaison, in a difficult situation. She was uninformed about the company's new plan, and was forced to make up reasons why the employees should agree to the cut in benefits. Her reputation and her effectiveness as a liaison is now jeopardized because she has not been privy to the company�s new agenda. ......
