The power of music I have always believed in the power of music. Music has the ability to change moods and lift spirits. It has the ability to incite riots or make peace. It is primal in nature. It brings people together. It is almost as if the human brain is born with receptors for music already installed. In my own personal experience, music has been very powerful, sometimes to the point of obsession. I began playing guitar when I was 13 years old. I remember seeing my older brother�s friend playing his guitar and thinking � how does he make it sound like that?� I was hooked. My brother�s friend gave me an old Les Paul knockoff that only had two strings on it and looked as if it had fallen out of the back of a truck. I started picking the strings and noticed that I could figure out some simple melodies to some of my favorite songs. The feelings elicited on my brain by this plank of wood were too strong to ignore. I have been playing ever since. If I have a bad day , all I have to do is pick up one of my guitars and start strumming a few bars......
