In present day America the most prominent marketing strategy is to integrate brands into the lives of the consumers. As consumers we are subjected to an overwhelming amount of ads and this amount only increases in urban areas. The sheer volume of advertising causes images, slogans, and jingles to be subconsciously imprinted into our very minds. It is aggravating when you step back and realize that advertising is ingrained in our neural circuitry and greatly impacts our purchasing decisions. Several decades ago, advertising was not nearly as abundant and the ads served as a key source of product information rather than a fast-paced subliminal flash of exaggerated concepts and vibrant colors. Businesses endlessly search for the most efficient form of marketing and some of their “market analysts” devised appalling practices.
